Description
Nestled in a magical clearing within 10 acres of private ancient woodland near the historic market town of Newbury, Bluebelle Pod offers a truly unique and peaceful glamping experience. Ideally located halfway between London and Bath, it's the perfect escape for couples or small families looking to unwind, explore, and reconnect with nature.
Sleeping two adults in a cosy double bed and up to two children (aged 12 and under) on fold-out Z-beds, the pod is thoughtfully designed for comfort. Inside you’ll find electricity, heating, a mini fridge-freezer, a kettle, toaster, and all your essential crockery, cutlery, utensils, wine glasses, and even plastic dining items for little ones. Tea, coffee, sugar, and milk are provided, and all water on site is safe for drinking.
Just next door is your own private bathroom with a piping hot shower, flushing loo, and sink, while outside there’s a decked seating area perfect for lazy mornings or starlit evenings. The undercover cooking area includes a gas stove and charcoal BBQ, and there’s a well-equipped washing-up area too.
The communal undercover seating area and large brick-built firepit with log seating sit right beside the pods and form the cosy heart of the clearing – perfect for sharing stories or toasting marshmallows as the sun goes down.
Children will love the freedom to explore the woodland, build dens, swing on the tyre swing, and spot wildlife. Guests have full access to the entire woodland area, where ducks, chickens, geese, peacocks, dogs, and even a few feral cats roam freely. Wild deer, foxes, and bats are often seen too, adding to the magic of this secluded spot.
The local village of Woolton Hill is within walking distance and has a shop, post office, three friendly pubs, and a monthly village market. Nearby attractions include Highclere Castle (famously known as Downton Abbey), 4 Kingdoms Adventure Farm Park, Newbury Racecourse, The Chase nature reserve, canal boat trips, museums, and endless countryside walks and cycle trails.
Please note: if the pod is at full human occupancy, we’re unable to accommodate dogs due to limited space, but they’re more than welcome when guest numbers are lower. Guests should bring their own wood, charcoal, and tea lights. A smoke alarm, fire blanket, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit are all provided for safety.

Hidden in a magical woodland clearing near Newbury on the Hampshire–Berkshire border, our off-grid bell tents offer a unique escape for couples, families, dogs and groups.
Each huge six-metre bell tent sleeps 2 adults in a double bed, plus up to 4 children on comfy pull-out Z beds. Furnished in a relaxed Bedouin style with rugs, cushions and a cosy log burner, the tent is light and spacious, with a private deck and firepit, and its own bathroom with hot shower and flushing loo right next door.
You'll have everything you need for a comfortable stay: all bedding and towels, a fully equipped cooking station with gas stove and charcoal BBQ, fridge freezer access, crockery and cutlery (including plastic sets for kids), washing-up gear, and even tea, coffee and sugar. The site is off-grid, but fairy lights and lanterns keep things magical – and we’ll happily charge your phone if needed.
Guests are free to roam our 10-acre private woodland with hidden paths, wood sculptures, a tyre swing, and space for den-building. Expect visits from our resident ducks, chickens, geese, peacocks, dogs, and curious cats – plus local wildlife like deer and foxes.
There are three great pubs within walking distance – The Rampant Cat, The Highclere Red House, and The Furze Bush – and the village of Woolton Hill has a shop, post office and monthly market. Nearby, explore Highclere Castle (aka Downton Abbey), 4 Kingdoms Adventure Park, local nature reserves, Newbury Racecourse, canal boats and scenic walking trails.
We’ve kept the glamping vibe real – it’s all about fresh air, campfires and connection – but without sacrificing the comforts that make it special. And for groups, we have five tents on site – just ask about our group discounts.
Please note:
We don’t supply wood, charcoal or tealights, so bring your own. The site is off-grid and animals roam freely – if that’s not your thing, this may not be your spot!
